ChatGPT was down for many —as OpenAI says it's 'monitoring the recovery'

ChatGPT was down for thousands of users globally today, with OpenAI saying it's now deployed a fix and is "monitoring the recovery" of the world's most popular chatbot.

The issues first started at about around 10.05am ET / 3.05pm on April 20, when a large spike in reports appeared on Downdetector. At their peak, there were over 8,700 reports of issues in the UK, and just over 1.900 in the US.
