'Chargrilled' chops returned at Curry Mile restaurant for being 'burnt' - are they?

The clue is in the name, but still, some folks can be a bit particular about their lamb chops.

Take one particular customer at Curry Mile charcoal pit institution Mughli last week.

They returned a bowl brimming with meaty goodness, due to the chops being ‘burned’.

So one of the restaurant’s quick-thinking, social media savvy staff popped a shot of the snags on their Twitter page, to gauge whether said chops were indeed scorched or not.

“Sent back by a customer as they’re ‘burnt’,” read the accompanying tweet. “Luckily, I’d skipped lunch.”

Indeed, there is some charring going on, no doubt about it.

But the chops are very much listed in the charcoal pit section of the restaurant’s menu, so that is perhaps to be expected.

And while for some, it’s a char too far, many would have chowed down without a second thought.

Consternation was the general feeling in the tweet’s replies.

“Who the hell thought that?? They are cooked to perfection and I am now salivating,” wrote Jane Warrington Smith.

“Caramelised more like. Some people think they know,” added Richard L. Hicken. “They know nowt.”

The post even received some local celebrity traction too.

Martin Moscrop, of legendary Factory Records band A Certain Ratio, chipped in: “Why they eating in a place that grills over real charcoal then?

“That photo has made me want some. Good social media work there.”

Famously, the restaurant is a favourite of Ed Sheeran.

The singer stopped by for a curry with former Aussie cricket captain Shane Warne in 2019, during the Ashes tests at Old Trafford.
