We've covered CFMoto's 1000 MT-X tasty spec sheet here at RideApart already, and I was lucky enough to see a few in the flesh at EICMA. I knew at the time that whenever these bikes were officially introduced to markets, they'd disrupt them due to almost unbeatable pricing. Don't get me wrong, plenty of CFMoto products are cheaper than the competition, but customers still opt for bikes they regard as better; however, the MT-X (Ibex) lineup is competing well in terms of price and performance, and the 1000 MT-X is no exception.
It was recently announced that the 1000 MT-X will arrive in Germany in the spring and cost just €9,999 ($11,764). As you'd expect from a CFMoto, this price puts it in a category ahead of its competition. In fact, the 1000 MT-X will be cheaper than most of the adventure motorcycles that are a class below it.
One of the most popular bikes in the class is Yamaha's Ténéré 700, which costs €12,599 in Germany. Aprilia's Tuareg 660 will set you back between €11,000 to €12,500, and if you want to grab a bargain in this class, it would've been the Suzuki V-Strom 800 for €10,390. We know that the 1000 MT-X will take from the aforementioned brands' customer base, but it could be far more deadly to competitors' offerings in the tier above.
One of the most obvious comparisons to the 1000 MT-X comes in the form of Honda's CRF11000L Africa Twin. A base model Africa Twin will set you back €16,449 in Germany, and the story is more or less the same with offerings from Triumph, Suzuki, Husqvarna, and KTM—the 1000 MT-X uses a powerplant derived from Team Orange's 890 Adventure.
The CFMoto 1000 MT-X isn't skimping on top-tier components either, with fully adjustable KYB USD forks, Brembo discs at the front, and an electronic suite packed with features. The bike has a ready-to-ride weight of 489 lbs, which is one of the better figures in this class, and at 112 hp it's also the most powerful. Unless this bike rides like sharp jelly, the biggest movers in this category will have a problem on their hands.
I reached out to CFMoto USA for confirmation regarding whether the 1000 MT-X is coming to the States and how it will be priced. The brand's Marketing Communications Manager, Reid Strait, got back to me and said, "We have not yet announced if or when the Ibex 1000 / 1000MT-X will be released in the US." So take from that what you will, but fingers crossed.
