Celtic transfer diary as Cameron Carter Vickers has key focus and Albian Ajeti puts exit talks on the backburner

It looks set to be a busy summer of incomings at Celtic as Ange Postecoglou gears up for the Champions League.

But as it stands star men like Cameron Carter-Vickers are focussing on making his case for a place at Qatar 2022.

USA boss Gregg Berhalter has handed the defender a call up with a packed fixture list for the international side.

He will be looking for his first cap in three years during the friendly clashes with Morocco and Uruguay, before a Nations League double header against Granada and El Salvador.

Berhalter has a reputation for sticking with his tried and tested stars so Carter-Vickers could have a tough job making his case for a spot in the World Cup squad.

There is no doubt keeping up his high level of performance next term at Celtic - and in the Champions League group stage - would help the centre-back.

A permanent transfer from Tottenham appears to be edging closer with terms agreed behind the scenes.

Another defender who is reportedly on the radar at Parkhead is Ko Itakura .

Schalke look unlikely to make their move to land Itakura on a permanent transfer following his loan spell in Germany last term.

Clubs are lining up to land the Manchester City loanee with Bournemouth seemingly the latest to make their interest known.

The Bournemouth Echo state that Scott Parker wants the player to join following their return to the English Premier League with Celtic, Hoffenheim, Freiburg, Frankfurt and Fulham also monitoring the situation.

In terms of outgoings, Albian Ajeti appears to be taking his mind off life at Celtic Park on his summer break.

The players has struggled to impress in Glasgow's east end and was barely featured in Ange Postecoglou's matchday squad in the latter part of the campaign.

Celtic will likely look to recoup some of the £5million paid out to West Ham for the striker this summer, but he appears to be in no rush to sort out his future.

Ajeti shared a snap on social media enjoying his summer break away from Lennoxtown as he lapped up the sunshine.

Karmoko Dembele is another who has been sharing snaps from sunny beaches.

The prospect is out of contract in the summer but has left that topic at home as he awaits a decision from the club while in Marbella.
