Celtic star Kuhn 'tracked by Brentford' as winger eyed in £25m transfer consequence

Celtic ace Nico Kuhn has reportedly been identified as a potential transfer replacement for Brentford.

Earlier this week the German winger, 24, was touted as a possible Premier League player of the future with several clubs keeping tabs on his performances.

Among them, according to The Boot Room, are Brentford who could be forced into the transfer market in January should key man Bryan Mbeumo move on.

Cameroon internationalist Mbeumo  has an impressive eight-goal haul so far this season in the Premier League and is thought to have caught the eye of a number of scouts.

Tottenham reportedly expressed an interest in the winger with Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle also linked with the player.

Mbeumo still has two years left on his Brentford deal but it's thought interest could be too strong in the player leading to a big-money transfer move.

And that could have an impact on Celtic with Kuhn a reported replacement option for Mbeumo.

TBR claim there is interest from the London club in Kuhn but Celtic have no plans to sell the player - who signed a five-year deal in January.

The former Germany under-21 is not a player Brendan Rodgers will want to lose, especially not after evolving into a key player in recent months.

Celtic signed Kuhn for a fee in the region of £3m as he left Rapid Vienna but they'd earn a bumper transfer profit should they choose to negotiate over a potential transfer if Brentford's interest becomes more concrete.

Reports have suggested a £25m asking price would be in place for Kuhn should Premier League clubs come calling in January or in the summer.

Celtic have boasted success in transfer dealings in recent seasons with Matt O'Riley most recently leaving the club in a record-breaking move after being signed for £1.5m.
