Celebrity Gogglebox's Joanna Lumley sparks mystery as she's replaced by Carol Vorderman

Celebrity Gogglebox viewers were left wondering where Joanna Lumley was after the showbiz legend was missing in action on Friday night.

Since the star studded spin off of Googglebix made its return a few weeks ago, Absolutely Fabulous icon and living legend Joanna has been seen on screen alongside broadcaster, writer and This Morning regular Gyles Brandreth. Gyles is now part of the furniture on the Channel 4 programme, having previously been in a hilarious sofa partnership with Maureen Lipman, who famously walked off camera after being made to watch Naked Attraction.

Celebrity Gogglebox fans were loving Gyles’ double act with Joanna so were surprised and disappointed to find that she’d been replaced by Carol Vorderman this week.

Carol’s Gogglebox debut came after she teased a big return to primetime TV. But, while having nothing against her, viewers were upset not to see Joanna on the couch.

Curious as to what had happened, one took to Twitter to post: “Does Giles Brandreth have Maureen Lipman and Joanna Lumley locked in a wardrobe somewhere? Vorderman wants to watch herself.”

Another posted: Was about to say Joanna Lumley looks different. But it's Carol Vorderman,” and a third joked: “ #Gogglebox I guess Gyles really upset Joanna Lumley with his high fiving.”

Friday's Celebrity Gogglebox saw the cast, also including Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash and Gok Wan, react to shows like Love Island, The Bridge: Race to a Fortune and Spooked Scotland.
