Officers have released CCTV images of four 'wanted' men after emergency workers and a member of the public were assaulted on the day of the Euro 2020 final. England lost on penalties to Italy in the final of the men's football tournament at Wembley Stadium, in London, on July 11 last year.
The side's success earlier in the tournament had captured the imagination of the country, but the day of the final itself was marred by disorder in the capital. Now, the Metropolitan Police has released images of four men they wish to speak to in connection with violence that took place in London on that day.
The Met says three of the men pictured are wanted in connection with assaults on emergency workers at Wembley Stadium, while the fourth (pictured bottom, right) is in connection with an assault of someone at Trafalgar Square. Anyone who recognises those in the pictures is urged to come forward.
In a statement released this morning (September 24), a spokesperson for the Met said: "Officers investigating disorder connected to the Euro 2020 final at Wembley are releasing images of four men they would like to identify. Three of the men are wanted in connection with assaults on emergency workers at Wembley Stadium on July 11, 2021.
"The fourth is wanted in connection with an assault on a member of the public in Trafalgar Square on the same day." Anyone who can help officers identify the men are asked to call the Met on 101, quoting CAD 3224/23Sep.
Alternatively, information can be passed onto the Met on Twitter @MetCC. Details can also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
