With Valentine Holmes in one ear and Damien Cook in the other, rugby sevens convert Nathan Lawson hopes the wisdom soaked up on his daily commute can put him on the fast track towards an NRL debut in 2025.

Lawson, Australia's male sevens player of the year in 2024, has been listed to face South Sydney in Saturday's Charity Shield in what will be just his second game of rugby league.
