Care home fined £20k after resident died from drinking sanitiser during lockdown

A care home has been fined £20,000 after a resident died from drinking sanitiser during lockdown.

David Fyfe, who had dementia and lived in Tigh-Na-Muirn residential home in Dundee, ingested cleaning liquid on May 27, 2020. The 90-year-old died four days later.

On Wednesday, Tigh-Na-Muirn Limited, who run the home, were fined £20,000 at Dundee Sheriff Court. The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said the company admitted breaching health and safety laws.
