Cameron Smith has revealed his pride at becoming the latest Leeds Rhinos player to wear the historic number 13 shirt after committing his long-term future to the club. Smith, who was one of Leeds' most outstanding talents in 2022, has agreed a new contract that will keep him at Headingley until at least the end of the 2026 season.
He has already made over 100 appearances for his hometown club at the age of just 24, and now looks set to extend that number by a significant margin in the years ahead. Furthermore, Leeds have rewarded his progression by confirming he will wear the number 13 shirt, made famous in recent years by Kevin Sinfield, next season.
Long seen as one of the best talents to emerge from the Leeds academy in years, Smith has shown himself as a key performer for Rohan Smith since the Australian arrived at Headingley earlier this year. And the forward admitted it was an honour to remain at a club he has no desire to leave any time soon.

“Leeds is my club, I never wanted to play anywhere else so I am delighted to commit my long term future to the club," he said.
"The number 13 shirt has so much history and heritage here at Leeds and to see my name above that number on the shirt is incredibly special to me and my family. I am still only 24 but I am excited about working with Rohan Smith and our coaching staff to continue to improve and hopefully as a group of players we can achieve our goals together.”
Rhinos coach Rohan Smith added: “I am pleased for Cameron that he has committed his long term future to the club. He is a product of our academy and development structure and it is important for our young players to see others who have followed the same pathway and achieved recognition in the first team.”
Leeds will reveal their full squad numbers this Friday ahead of the 2023 campaign.
