Cambuslang Rangers have made their first new signing of the summer after the capture of former Ayr United striker Sean McKenzie.
And the Somervell Park side made it a quadruple boost with the news midfielder Jay Nelson and forward Ben Richford have committed to the club for another season, off the back of helping the side win the West of Scotland Football League Conference B title, while under-21 starlet Harry Kent has been promoted to the first team.
New boy McKenzie could be the man to fill the void left by 50-goal player of the year Scott Williamson after his switch to Scottish Championship side Queen’s Park.
Last season McKenzie netted 60 times for Nithsdale Wanderers and will be a key player as Camby embark on top flight football next term in the Premier Division.
Kent could also bring a big goal threat having been the U21 side’s top goalscorer last season and Camby co-boss is thrilled to have him on board.
He said: “With all the interest in him and the goals he has scored for the under-21s, we are delighted to have him signed up for the first team.”
Meanwhile, Nelson is delighted to stay on at the club with a one-year extension.
He netted 12 goals and contributed an impressive 27 assists last term on the road to the league title.
And Nelson said: “I’m over the moon to renew my contract with Cambuslang for another year, especially after the promotion and the season we had with a great bunch of lads.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started and start working for the season ahead.”
Richford provides more options in attack after signing a new deal yesterday.
Meanwhile, Camby will once again compete for the annual William Skinner Memorial Cup match against Rutherglen Glencairn this summer.
This year’s match will be played at Somervell Park on Saturday, July 9, kick-off 2pm.
