Cam Waters has continued his stellar form at Symmons Plains Raceway, nabbing pole position for race three of the Supercars season ahead of Will Davison and Red Bull rookie Broc Feeney.
Waters hovered around the top markers in the morning's practice sessions before pipping Davison in qualifying three by three hundredths of a second to score his 10th career pole and third consecutive in Tasmania after grabbing both in 2021.
The Monster Energy Racing driver said his team's adjustments to the car delivered when it mattered.
"The guys have done a fantastic job, the car was pretty ordinary in practice two, it wasn't bad in practice one and they just made it better again so, massive thanks to my team," Waters told Fox Sports.
"(Last year) we didn't have tyre life, the cars fairly different to last year and I hope we've learned a few things, and it's nice on its tyres and we can get a trophy today."
Shell V-Power Racing's Davison was electric in all his lap times and registered the fastest ever lap at Symmons Plains in practice one.
He will join Waters on the front row as teammate Anton De Pasquale struggled in qualifying two to start 12th on the grid.
Reigning Supercars champion Shane Van Gisbergen was fifth fastest behind new teammate Broc Feeney who entered Saturday's qualifying with no experience on the 2.4km Tasmanian track.
"Its awesome, never drove the track a few hours ago and P3 on the grid for this afternoon's race is pretty exciting," Feeney said.
