Liverpool have made contact with Aberdeen as a move for right-back Calvin Ramsay edges closer.
The ECHO recently reported the Reds were increasingly confident a deal could be completed for the 18-year-old defender and talks between the sides have now begun regarding the structure of a potential transfer.
It is understood Jurgen Klopp's side will be expected to pay a fee in the region of £4million, with dialogue currently taking place over possible add-ons. The above figure would represent the highest sum received for a player by the Scottish Premiership side.

The highly-rated youngster is on the radar of a number of clubs, with Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Leeds United among those having shown interest along with teams from Germany and Italy.
Ramsay, though, is understood to favour a move to Liverpool and the opportunity to work under Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool have already completed their first summer signing in the form of Fabio Carvalho, whose arrival was announced last month following an initial pursuit of the teenage midfielder during the January transfer window.
The Reds are also hopeful of securing the services of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, though a fee is yet to be agreed for the 22-year-old - despite suggestions the player has already told his family and friends he is moving to Anfield.
