A California man, David Jonathan Margoliash, 48, has been arrested and charged with felony burglary, felony assault with a deadly weapon, and felony attempted kidnapping after a series of disturbing incidents in Marin County.

The first incident occurred when Margoliash broke into a home on Ross Street in San Rafael in the early hours of the morning. He attacked a sleeping couple, hitting the pregnant woman with a flashlight and biting the husband's hand. The couple managed to fight Margoliash off and he fled the scene, leaving the victims with minor injuries.

Following the home invasion, Margoliash attempted to kidnap a resident at a nursing home on Fifth Avenue. He posed as an employee of a transport service and tried to take an elderly patient to Santa Rosa. However, staff at the facility became suspicious and prevented Margoliash from leaving with the patient.

Police were alerted to Margoliash's presence at the nursing home and took him into custody after a brief pursuit. While in custody, Margoliash reportedly made incriminating statements about his actions in both cases.

It was revealed that Margoliash has a history of criminal behavior, including a previous arrest for assaulting a member of a mosque with pepper spray during Ramadan. He is currently awaiting sentencing for that incident.

Authorities are continuing to investigate these incidents and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Margoliash remains in custody at Marin County Jail without bail.
