A couple who bonded over a Burger King Whopper nine years ago have tied the knot, with a little nod to that first romantic encounter. Emily Garland and Jamie Dunsmuir bonded over their love for the fast-food giant and sported iconic Burger King crowns for their big day.
The loved-up couple, who have two children, met at the Burger King branch in their home town of Guildford, Surrey, back in 2013. Nine years on, they have two children, Sophia, who is almost two years old, and Florence, who is eight-months old.
Love struck as assistant accountant Emily, who was then living in Fleet, Hampshire, enjoyed her burger at the Guildford Burger King after visiting a local nightclub. Jamie, an electrician, had been partying at a piano bar, and united in their love of Burger King, romance blossomed.
When Burger King heard of their romance, they provided the Burger King crowns as a reminder of where their story began. And the best day of their life at the on Saturday was captured by photographer Scott Finneran as the happy couple and 100 guests got married at the Shangri-La hotel in the Shard in London before a river cruise down the Thames.
Emily, who now lives with her husband in Jacobs Well, Guildford, said: “Our wedding day wouldn’t have been complete without a Burger King shout-out as, if it wasn’t for the fast-food chain, our paths would never have crossed.
"On our first anniversary we even ended up returning to the restaurant to reminisce and managed to sit at the exact same table where sparks first flew.
"The Burger King crowns at our celebration helped make our day that little bit more special, and our guests loved them!”
