The Cleveland Browns have taken their backup quarterback of the future. After signing Josh Dobbs to be their backup to Deshaun Watson in 2023, they have now selected UCLA mobile quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson with pick no. 140 in the 2023 NFL draft.
Thompson-Robinson had his most productive season in 2022 for the Bruins, throwing for 3,169 yards and 27 touchdowns. Using his legs as a weapon, the Thompson-Robinson also ran for an additional 645 yards and 12 touchdowns this past season.
The Browns shoot for four years of cost-controlled play out of their backup quarterback, and get it in the form of Thompson-Robinson as the draft enters its later rounds.
