Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, suffered a major scare over the summer when he had a cardiac arrest episode during a workout. He was briefly hospitalized, and for a while, it looked like his basketball career was in serious jeopardy.
The younger James had just committed to play his college ball at the University of Southern California after a very promising senior year at Sierra Canyon School. A rising number of pundits felt he has serious potential to make it to the NBA as a high draft pick.
After undergoing medical tests, it was determined that his cardiac arrest episode was caused by a congenital heart defect and that he would likely make a full recovery.
The good news is now here: The younger James has been fully cleared to start his freshman year of roundball.

According to Trojans head coach Andy Enfield, the team will be cautious with him.
Via ESPN:
“That’s not my decision and it’s probably too early to speculate. He’s been out of basketball for quite a few months, so we’ll be patient with him and once we get the green light we’ll get him into games.”
Right now, the Trojans have a 5-2 record and are in fifth place in the Pac-12. The debut of the younger James could be a big shot in the arm, especially for a program that has historically played second-fiddle to the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins (a team that is also currently 5-2) in the Southland.
