Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at rookie outside linebacker Jonah Elliss, No. 52.
Before the Broncos: Elliss (6-2, 248 pounds) is the son of former NFL defensive lineman Luther Elliss, who spent one season with the Broncos. Three of Jonah’s older brothers — Kaden, Christian and Noah — also play in the NFL. Elliss played college football at Utah from 2021-2023. He had a breakout season last fall, earning consensus All-American honors after totaling 37 tackles (16 behind the line of scrimmage), 12 sacks, three pass breakups and one forced fumble in 10 games with the Utes.
Broncos tenure: Denver picked Elliss in the third round of this year’s NFL draft. He’s set to compete for a spot at outside linebacker this summer.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Lock. Elliss might not start in Week 1, but he’s a lock to make the active roster as a rookie. He seems poised to win snaps as a rotational pass rusher immediately, and Elliss will be a candidate to start for the Broncos down the road.
