A British man who died after being struck by lightning while paddling in Greece has been named as Scott Seddon. The 26-year-old from Liverpool had been on a paddleboard in the Agathi area of Rhodes on Monday, May 29, at around 1.30 pm when the bolt struck the water a short distance from where he was.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and with the help of a local resident were able to pull him from the water where medics battle to save his life. It is understood that he was taken to Archangelos Health Centre but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Greek media outlet Rodiaki report that his girlfriend was filming at the time of the incident. The local resident who battled to save the Brit, told the outlet: "I was worried that the same thing would happen to me as it was still raining but I didn't stop.
"The rescuers arrived shortly afterwards and performed all the resuscitation procedures to keep him alive. Unfortunately, I found out a little later that he didn't make it."
The Liverpool Eco reports that Mr Seddon was a student at King David High School in Childwall for a period of time. His social media page suggests he also attended St Francis Xavier's College in Woolton.
