Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Swindon Town: Taylor dominates and Finley shines on return

James Belshaw - 7

Tyreece Simpson's precise finish gave him no chance. Again he was superb in sweeping up behind his defence with a couple of vital interventions from dangerous long balls.

Luca Hoole - 8

Gave Rovers a bit of everything from right-back. Was dependable defensively and he joined the attack when possible. Could have perhaps showed more confidence to deliver or take on a defender when he got into the final third.

Connor Taylor - 9

Close to perfection. Absolutely dominant performance from the young Stokie, giving Simpson very little in their aerial duels and he was always the man in the right place to intervene in moments of danger.

James Connolly - 6

The opening goal stemmed from his poor touch when trying to intercept a pass. Could have unravelled from there, but he stuck to his task and got through the game without further errors.

Josh Grant - 7

Offered Rovers a presence on the left flank in each third. Always made himself available for a pass to beat the Swindon press and he did his defensive duties. His football brain is highly regarded by Rovers' coaches and he showed his nous to trip McKirdy to avert a late moment of dangers.

Paul Coutts (c) - 7

Battled hard and set Rovers on the way for many of their attacks. Used his experience to help Rovers through difficult moments.

Sam Finley - 8

Gave the Gas something different with his range of passing from midfield. Produced the equaliser with a sublime cross that Collins claimed he got the final touch on. It appeared to be on target anyway. Finley continued to stand out in the second half with his mazy dribbles causing Swindon plenty of concern. Did very well to ride the game out on a yellow card with Swindon trying to wind him up.

Antony Evans - 7

Showed a different side to his game. A lot of his best work came out of possession, pressing high and forcing errors from the Swindon defence. Could have done more with his chances to cross, but a thumping challenge on Williams summed up the afternoon. It was a hard battle and Evans was up for it.

Sam Nicholson - 6

The quietest of Rovers' forward players but he had a few nearly moments. Perhaps could have done more to put his effort on target wider of the goalkeeper, but it was a tough chance off balance.

Aaron Collins - 7

Continued his good form with another bright performance. Darted beyond Ellis Iandolo in the first half before whipping a menacing ball across the six-yard area that was just too strong for Loft. Claimed the equaliser when he arrived at the back stick to meet Finley's cross. Some debate over whose goal it was, but a good performance nonetheless.

Ryan Loft - 6

Inches away from opening his Rovers account in the opening minutes but he couldn't quite get a touch on Collins' cross. He was a nuisance for the Swindon defence and he won some free-kicks in handy positions, but he made a mess of a difficult chance on the volley and he will feel there is more to come from him as a goal threat.
