Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi to miss West Ham Premier League fixture after Fulham red card

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi will not be on the touchline for Saturday’s Premier League fixture against West Ham United.

The Seagulls’ Italian manager was sent off after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Fulham last month after confronting referee Darren England in the tunnel at the Amex Stadium, with the 43-year-old describing the standard of refereeing in the Premier League as “very bad” after the defeat.

Now, De Zerbi has been handed a one-match ban and fined £15,000, leading to him now being not allowed on the touchline as Brighton host the Hammers on Saturday.

An FA statement read: "The [Brighton] head coach admitted that his behaviour at full-time was improper, and that his behaviour and/or language in the tunnel afterwards towards a match official was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper.”

West Ham are set to be without goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski for the match due to a fractured eye-socket and cheekbone injury.

Right-back Vladimir Coufal (heel), winger Maxwel Cornet (calf) and centre-back Kurt Zouma (thigh) are all also doubts for the game.
