After going silent over the past week, Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Brian Burns spoke up on Sunday—with both his words and his actions.
The two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher was one of the few bright spots in the team’s 24-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, as he recorded seven tackles and 1.5 sacks to open up the campaign. But, with the Panthers having yet to meet Burns on a lucrative contract extension, does he plan on playing this campaign out?

He played quite the first quarter—chalking up a sack to squash Atlanta’s opening drive and almost literally squashing rookie running back Bijan Robinson for a 6-yard loss.
Burns, who was notably amped up from his play, was also asked if he’s out there with a chip on his shoulder. He shot that idea down.
“I feel like I’ve done what I needed to do,” he replied. “Being consistent. Just takin’ the next step in my game. I wanna dominate, ya know? So comin’ out in that first quarter, that first half—that’s all that was on my mind. Dominate.”
