Brew City offer £30,000 job to eat cheese for a year

It might sound crackers - but Brew City are ready to pay one lucky person £30,000 to eat their cheesy products for a year! The bar snack brand, owned by frozen food giants McCain, are advertising for a chief snacking officer on Instagram.

As well as munching the tasty nibbles over a 365-day period, the successful candidate will also be tasked with conducting a market research trip to brewery-loving Boston in the United States, along with two friends. Other perks of the job include the use of a chauffer for trips to the pub where the mouth-watering morsels, including products like mozzarella melts and halloumi fries, are best sampled.

Anybody wanting to apply for the prized position must follow Brew City on Instagram, like one of the posts advertising the role and, then, leave a comment detailing what would be your first act in the job and why. Oh, and there's one final criteria - you must be called "Gary".

Last month, Brew City made an audacious offer of £1.5 million and a penny to lure the current King of Snacks Gary Lineker away from his long-standing advertising deal with Walkers Crisps. TV pundit and former England footballer Lineker is one of only three people that Brew City follow on Instagram.

The other two are also Garys - another ex-Three Lions soccer star Gary Neville and 1970s and 80s electronic music pioneer Gary Numan. With Match of the Day presenter Lineker understood to be staying loyal to Walkers, the creative rival brand are now looking for a Gary of their own to perhaps knock him off his throne.

YouTuber JaackMaate and food challenge Instagram influencer Kate Ovens are among the panel of judges that will decide who gets the gig with the terms and conditions stating that "you don't actually have to do anything but collect your money and enjoy a year of cheese".

Entries will be accepted until May 13 and, of the Garys that have already outlined their proposed first acts in the job, one pledged: "We would begin a petition for the UK Government to honour us with a day of recognition. Let’s say, January 1st (*cough my birthday*) and name it Saint Gary’s day. Patron Saint of Cheese and associated bar snacks."

Another, named Gary Lee, said: "My first act as chief snacking officer would be to rename myself Gary Brie!!" A third simply commented: "Well, my first act would be a couple of pints to celebrate, obviously!"

Speaking in The Sun, Brew City product manager Becky Slater added: "Who wouldn’t want to get paid to eat a year's supply of cheese? It might even be worth changing your name to Gary."
