Brentford boss Thomas Frank has declared that he expects Newcastle United to target the top six in the future. Newcastle have lost just one of their opening eight games, and defeated Fulham 4-1 in their last outing to end a six-match winless run and climb into seventh place.
Frank's side travel to St James' Park to face Newcastle on Saturday, with the Bees sitting 10th place in the Premier League. Eddie Howe made his Newcastle debut in a 3-3 draw against Brentford (albeit from his hotel after contracting Covid) last November and Frank has praised the progress that Newcastle have made since his arrival.
"There is no doubt that Newcastle are aiming to be a top six side in the future," Frank said ahead of the weekend clash. "Eddie Howe, his staff, and players have done a very good job so far.
