Brenden Aaronson's delight at joining 'humongous' Leeds United as signing tells of perfect match

Brendan Aaronson has revealed why he wanted to join Leeds United and explained why he's a perfect match for the club after his £25 million move was completed.

Leeds United confirmed the signing of the midfielder on Thursday afternoon. Aaronson arrived in Leeds yesterday as he underwent a medical on Thursday morning, before putting pen to paper on a deal to join Leeds United - making him the club's third most expensive transfer in the club's history.

The 21-year-old was coached by Jesse Marsch at his former side in Austria and had a breakthrough season during his last campaign with Red Bull Salzburg. But he says once he was aware of Leeds' interest, it was an easy decision.

He told Leeds Live: "It's awesome here. Me and my girlfriend were in the car looking around. It's beautiful and we're really looking forward to living here.

"It's a humongous, historic club and it's everything I have always wanted to be a part of."

He added: "The feeling I got from Victor (Orta), the club in general, fans, players - I feel it's a perfect match for me."

Aaronson admitted that Leeds were interested in January, but no move ever materialised. However, he's now overjoyed that the move has gone through and is delighted to link up with Jesse Marsch.

He said: "It's a really good feeling. It wasn't just Jesse that swayed me to come here, but the club in general, too. But being reunited with Jesse and work under him - I feel like my game took a huge boost under him for the first half a year. I feel like I was getting goals and assists, and playing at a high level under him.

"I didn't know Jesse before Salzburg, but we have a good relationship - and not just because we're both American! He was a great coach in the MLS, I had known about him for a long time."
