Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Chelsea have submitted their first offer for Wesley Fofana but it was nowhere near the Foxes' valuation of the defender.
With Marc Cucurella the most recent addition which was confirmed on Friday with his £63million move, the Blues have now signed five players for the men's first team and have spent near the £200million mark already. However, it doesn't seem as though the Blues will be stopping anytime soon with more signings forecast as spending could potentially hit £300million before September 1.
Next up on the agenda is Leicester star Fofana, and the Blues have failed with their first opening offer for the 21-year-old which was under the £70million mark. football.london understands that a second proposal of £70million has been submitted, though it is likely to be rejected as they hold out for closer to the £80million mark

Although Rodgers continued to pour cold water on the situation, he has changed his public stance from 'not for sale' to 'the valuation not being met', demonstrating the shift which could play right into the hands of new owner Todd Boehly during negotiations.
Perhaps James Maddison's decision to sign a new contract at the King Power Stadium for 2022/23 amid strong Newcastle interest has allowed the idea of a Fofana exit to seem more palatable as Leicester need a big sale in order to sign some players before September 1.
"There's been an offer, but nowhere near the valuation. The club don't need to sell our biggest assets," Rodgers said on Friday.
"We didn't even think about it. The club know the value of what they have, and any player that leaves here, they will always want the top valuation on that player. That's only natural, but historically, Leicester have done that very well."
