The move comes immediately after the Raiders 41-24 loss to the Bengals.
This past week, Antonio Pierce talked about using the bye week for a “rest” to “self scout” After Sunday’s game, he took reiterated that sentiment, and made it a bit more ominous that the Raiders “need to look at everything, and when I say everything, everything.”
This loss was the latest in a string of five straight losses in which the Raiders offense has been historically bad. Namely the run game, which had looked pretty good last season, but has not gotten going this season in Getsy’s scheme and behind the newly installed zone blocking scheme.
Getsy had spent the past two seasons as the OC in Chicago where the offense was ranked among the bottom of the league each season. It was apparently thought that the issues with the offense lay more with QB Justin Fields than with Getsy.
Apparently not. Currently the Raiders rank 28th in yards and 31st in rushing.
UPDATE: Raiders officially announce Getsy firing along with two other coaches.
