Oasis star Bonehead has announced he has been diagnosed with cancer and has pulled out of upcoming shows. The group's founder took to social media to announce the news on Tuesday afternoon (April 26).
The musician, whose real name is Paul Arthurs, is widely known as the rhythm guitarist, keyboardist and co-founder of English rock band Oasis. He was set to join Liam Gallagher on his upcoming shows at Manchester's Etihad and Knebworth Park.
The Manchester-born singer confirmed it was tonsil cancer that doctors diagnosed him with and that he is due to start treatment soon. In a statement on Tuesday, the musician, aged 56, said: "Just to let you all know I'm going to be taking a break from playing for a while.

"I've been diagnosed with tonsil cancer, but the good news is its treatable and I'll be starting a course of treatment soon. I'll keep you posted how it's going. I'm gutted I'm missing the gigs with Liam and the band.
"Have the best summer and enjoy the gigs if you're going. I'll see you soon. xxx"
The news was met with hundreds of messages of support on Twitter and Instagram, with fans rushing to respond to the news. The post quickly amassed thousands of likes on Tuesday afternoon.
Among those was pal Liam Gallagher sent his well-wishes to Paul as he wrote: "Sending BIG love to the 1 n only Bonehead and his family wishing you a speedy recovery we’re all thinking of you rasta you’ll be back on stage bfore you can say r we doing Colombia LG x"
