A 10-year-old boy is currently in a critical condition after being involved in a serious crash on the A1(M) northbound near Leeds in the early hours of the morning.
The boy was a passenger in a VW Golf when it crashed with a van on the A1(M) northbound between junction 44 for Bramham and junction 45 towards Boston Spa. The road was closed for around six hours from after 2am until after 8am.
West Yorkshire Police are now appealing for information, with a spokesperson for the force saying: "The collision occurred when a VW Golf travelling northbound collided with a Citroen Relay Van which was towing a large trailer. The van had been stationary on the hard shoulder at the time of the collision.

"A 10-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the VW Golf at the time of the incident, suffered serious injuries and remains in a critical condition at this time. Two adults, also travelling in the Golf, suffered serious injuries which required hospital treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstance of the incident. Road closures were in place but have since been removed."
