'Boris out of ideas and now fighting old battles - we're stuck until he's gone'

Brexit wars, union bashing and racism... Boris Johnson re-releasing his greatest hits will not play well for the lying lawbreaker.

By refighting old battles the stumbling Prime Minister revealed that he has run out of fresh ideas.

The cost of living crisis, levelling down, sleaze and a lengthening trail of broken promises removed the benefit of the doubt.

Voters who gave Johnson a chance in 2019 won’t be fooled again. Getting Brexit undone over Northern Ireland to provoke a confrontation with the EU is another cavalier personal fancy.

Johnson’s £31billion Brexit damage to the UK economy – the respected Centre for European Reform calculated a 5.2% growth hit – combined with polls finding most people wish we had stayed in the EU expose the protocol push as a naked attempt to appease his party’s Right-whingers.

I’m detecting an understanding of why rail workers are driven to strike from workers similarly enduring falling living standards. That leaves Johnson, Grant Shapps and the rest of them sounding like dinosaurs.

And forced deportations to Rwanda are “appalling”, as Prince Charles reportedly concluded.

This shameful policy is intended to incite hate – the few hundreds that the Home Office expects to send are a drop in the ocean when close on 30,000 desperate people are risking crossing the Channel.

The two-fifths of Conservative MPs with no confidence in jaundiced Johnson will only grow larger when a week on Thursday he loses red wall Wakefield to Labour and possibly blue wall Tiverton to the Lib Dems.
