Bored of black and white? Meet the unexpected color trend taking over the tech world in 2026

Selection of tech in oranges, yellows and greens.

Who was it that decided our tech needed to look super serious? For most gadgets these days, your options are as wide ranging as choosing between black and white. If you're lucky, you might have the option of silver or navy. Except, this summer, I'm seeing a shift that's as unexpected as it is welcome.

Alongside those funeral-friendly shades, I'm seeing an influx of tropical hues. I'm talking zingy lemon, fresh green, and — most predominantly — vibrant orange. This totally tropical trend is popping up across all corners of the tech market, and seeping into appliances too.

Apple's hottest new product drops have a distinctly fruity through-line — Citrus is the MacBook Neo colorway everyone's hankering after, and Cosmic Orange is the head-turner in an otherwise unremarkable selection of iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max color options. Bose's latest limited-edition color drop is 'Sunset Peach', available across a selection of summer holiday-friendly, portable SoundLink speakers, and Nutribullet's Flex portable blender range now has a 'Papaya' installment.

Elsewhere, Dyson — which, to be fair, has never been afraid of a bit of color — has just rolled out a 'Ceramic Apricot and Topaz' colorway for its Airwrap and other haircare gadgets. I'm not sure who got there first, but GHD's new limited-edition GHD Chronos colorway is a similar-looking 'Sun-kissed Peach'.

Here's my pick of the best new citrus-toned gadgets to add some zing to your summer...
