The rejoicing you hear around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center — and frankly the entire state of Ohio — is the Boom! of getting a commitment from 5-star 2023 wide receiver Carnell Tate.
Tate is ranked as the No. 3 receiver and 28th overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s a Chicago area native that is attending the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Tate had a final four of Ohio State, LSU, Notre Dame, and Tennessee, but many believed it was really down to the Buckeyes and Vols for his services. The recruiting types close to the situation believe Tate flipped back and forth between the two schools, but the pull of playing for OSU where several top talents have been developed under Brian Hartline was probably enough to move the needle to the scarlet and gray side.

There’s no way around it, this is a huge commitment for the Buckeyes and will hopefully be a catalyst for some much-needed momentum going forward in the 2023 class.
