MasterChef Australia Judge Melissa Leong Reportedly Had ‘Falling Out’ With Crew Prior To Exit

Prior to MasterChef Australia judge Melissa Leong leaving the show, a bombshell report did the rounds about an alleged beef between her and some of the crew.

Apparently MasterChef Australia staff were reminded of the confidentially clause in their contracts after an insider spilled behind-the-scenes tea involving the tension on set.

An insider reportedly told The Daily Telegraph that the food queen had “fallen out” with members of Endemol Shine’s beauty crew and as a result, she opted to do “her own hair and make-up” as she and production staff “no longer want to work together.”

According to reports, the situation worsened when a freelancer was hired to do Melissa’s hair, before later being instructed not to work with her.

Confidential also reported that Melissa accused the crew of bullying back in April 2022 after claims the team did not arrange a cake to celebrate her birthday but instead celebrated the birthday of judge Andy Allen.

Following this report, an insider told The Sunday Telegraph that Endemol Shine had warned cast and crew about the confidentiality clause in their contracts.

Apparently the crew were told “in no uncertain terms” that if they breached the confidentiality clause and spoke to the media about what goes on behind-the-scenes then their contracts “would be torn up and they’d be shown the door.”

PEDESTRIAN.TV reached out to Ten and Melissa Leong for a comment at the time.

Melissa Leong today announced she’s leaving the show.

“Over the past four years, MasterChef Australia has infused my life with something truly magical. It has provided me with life-changing experiences that have given me the courage to continue to put myself outside of my comfort zone,” she shared in a statement.

“It is with great enthusiasm and warmth that I welcome new faces Sofia, Poh, and Jean-Christophe, to this very special family, I know they will make it theirs in their own special way, as we did.

“The great honour of growing the MasterChef Australia family with the introduction of Dessert Masters is not lost on me. I relish the sweet opportunity to nurture this special series alongside Amaury.”
