Police in East Kilbride have launched an appeal after bogus workmen stole cash from an elderly woman's home.
The OAP, in her 80s, was targeted by the two crooks in the Greenhills area of the town yesterday afternoon.
The cruel thieves took a three-figure sum of cash from her home after distracting her.
East Kilbride Sergeant, Scott Anderson, told Lanarkshire Live it is so far being treated as an "isolated incident" but is warning householders in the area to remain vigilant - and for residents to look out for vulnerable relatives or neighbours.
He said: "Police received a report of two bogus workmen attending the address of an elderly female in the Greenhills area of East Kilbride in the afternoon of Wednesday, May 25.
"The males were permitted entry and used distraction techniques to remove money from the house before leaving.
"There were no further reports in the area and this is believed to be an isolated incident. Police enquiries are ongoing to identify the males responsible."
Sgt Anderson added: "Police are urging the public to be vigilant, always ask for ID and check same, do not permit entry unless you are satisfied they are genuine, look out for neighbours and report any suspicious activity to police.
"Bogus callers target the most vulnerable in our community so let’s work together and protect our residents."
