A body has been found in the search for missing man Peter Doherty.
Police Scotland confirmed the tragic news this evening after a two-week search for the missing 53-year-old.
The body of a man was found in the Greenhill Road area of Paisley around 12.40pm today.
Although formal identification is yet to take place, Peter's family have been made aware.
Peter, from Govan, was last seen on Love Street in Paisley on Monday, April 25 and had not been in touch with his loved ones.
His disappearance was described as out of character as a desperate search was launched to trace him.
His death is currently being treated as unexplained but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland statement said: "The body of a man was found in the Greenhill Road area of Paisley, around 12.40pm today.
"Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of Peter Doherty, who was reported missing from Govan, has been made aware.
"The death is being treated as unexplained, but there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
