Former Boston Celtics veteran point guard Marcus Smart expressed shock and disappointment after being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies for big man Kristaps Porzingis. The Flower Mound native learned about the trade through his fiancee in the middle of the night, despite being previously told there were no trade talks.
There may have been a miscommunication between Smart and the team’s management, but any way you slice it, Smart’s departure from the Celtics after nine years is a loss for the team, It’s clear Smart’s leadership and passion were valued by other teams, despite his inconsistent shooting.
Boston fans have a special bond with Smart, and his departure has left them hurting, and many are underwhelmed by the return on Williams.
