The game didn’t end the way Broncos fans wanted, but once again Denver can be happy with rookie QB Bo Nix. The first-round pick turned in another very impressive performance in Denver’s 34-27 loss to the Chargers on Thursday night.
Nix was efficiently effective in the primetime defeat, completing 29-of-40 passes for 263 yards and two TDs. He completed passes to 10 different Broncos. Just for good measure, Nix also picked up 25 yards on the ground.
Nix entered Week 16 second in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds, trailing Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels. Each rookie signal-caller has led his team to nine wins and the precipice of the postseason.
It’s a close race, at least statistically. Nix has thrown for more TDs (22 to 17) but also more INTs (11 to 6), while they average within two passing yards per game of one another. Daniels carries a significant edge in completion percentage and also rushing yards, though Nix’s 352 on the ground have been a big part of Denver’s surge up the win column.
