A trainee teacher was caught drink-driving after police pulled her over for having no headlights on.
Demi Harper had been out clubbing in Blyth with a friend when she was persuaded to give them a lift home. A court heard that the 23-year-old soon came to the attention of officers after she forgot to illuminate her lights, despite travelling at night.
She was stopped and asked to do a roadside breath test after it was deemed she was under the influence of booze. Harper was arrested after providing a positive sample, later giving a reading of 73mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath when the legal limit is just 35mcg.

Harper, of Nidderdale Close, in Blyth, has now been given a 17-month disqualification after she pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
Paul Anderson, prosecuting at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court, said officers spotted Harper in her Citreon C1 on Broadway, in Blyth, on February 19. Mr Anderson continued: "She's stopped because she had no lights illuminated.
"The defendant confirmed she'd had a drink and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. She provides a positive roadside breath test. She's distraught and says 'that's my career over, I have messed-up here'."
Steve Chambers, defending, said Harper had no past convictions and had rang for a taxi on the night in question but it was delayed. He added: "Her friend suggested that she'd only had a couple of drinks, why didn't she drive them home. She was persuaded to do that and she felt OK to do that."
