Bitter former Rangers target Veerman delivers scathing 'very mediocre' blast

FORMER Rangers target Joey Veerman has launched another attack on the Ibrox side by labelling them as 'very mediocre' despite knocking his PSV Eindhoven team out of the Champions League.

Rangers eliminated the Dutch side in the Champions League qualifiers at the start of the season, but went on to have a nightmare campaign where they bagged an unwanted record as the worst team ever in the group stages of the competition.

Veerman was wanted by Rangers a year ago, but opted to sign for PSV in a £5 million deal instead of the Ibrox side when he left Heerenveen.

And in a review of PSV's season so far, the 24-year-old admitted he had still not over losing to Rangers 1-0 in the Netherlands, following a 2-2 draw in Glasgow.

He said: "By far the most terrible moment of the season was losing to Rangers in the Champions League decider.

"And we lost to a team who were very mediocre.

"But it was our own fault. We were at home and failed to do anything about it."

Bitter Veerman earlier complained after the second leg that Rangers didn't deserve to qualify.

He moaned: "I don't think it's fair that Rangers play in the Champions League and we don't. I don't think they created a single chance in Eindhoven apart from the goal.

"What did we do wrong? We missed two great chances before half time. We had to score them."
