Bird put to sleep to end suffering after leg partially amputated by illegal trap in Lanarkshire

An appeal has been launched after a bird had to be put to sleep after being found caught in an illegal springer trap.

The Scottish SPCA made the difficult decision to put the Jackdaw to sleep to end its suffering, after it sustained "horrendous injuries" to its left leg as a result of the trap.

A post mortem showed the bird's leg had a severe open fracture and was partially amputated - causing the bird severe pain.
