Big Nottingham Forest injury blow as Netflix update emerges

The latest Nottingham Forest headlines on Friday, March 31.

Big injury blow

Nottingham Forest have been hit by the news striker Chris Wood is ruled out for the rest of the season with injury.

The January signing suffered a thigh problem while on duty with New Zealand during the international break. He will now miss the Reds’ remaining 11 games as they battle to retain their Premier League status.

Forest have had to contend with a significant list of absentees in recent months. And they have fitness doubts over Serge Aurier, Andre Ayew, Gustavo Scarpa and Brennan Johnson ahead of Saturday’s crunch clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Netflix plan rejected

An offer from Netflix to make a behind-the-scenes documentary featuring all 20 top-flight clubs has reportedly been rejected by the Premier League.

Whilst Nottingham Forest's top-flight status for next season remains unknown, the Reds could potentially have been involved in a fly-on-the-wall series similar to Formula One's Drive to Survive.

The series would have involved behind-the-scenes access and interviews with players and senior figures in the game meaning that fans could have had unprecedented access to Forest's dressing room during a Premier League campaign.

Exciting Awoniyi update

Striker Taiwo Awoniyi is “looking sharp” as he edges towards his Nottingham Forest comeback.

The 25-year-old has been sidelined with a groin problem for almost three months, having been forced off in the Reds’ 1-0 victory at Southampton in January. He is now back in full training, which comes as a welcome boost for head coach Steve Cooper as the Welshman continues to deal with a significant number of absentees.

The latest name added to the injury list is front man Chris Wood, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a thigh issue. That makes Awoniyi’s progress particularly well-timed, especially as Andre Ayew and Brennan Johnson are both doubts for Saturday’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves injury news

Wolves are set to welcome back three players for Saturday's relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Forest go into the game in the midst of a six-game winless run since their last Premier League victory against Leeds United back in February. Steve Cooper's team are just two points above the bottom three going into Saturday's game.

Wolves are in a similar poor run of form having won just one of their previous five matches. Both sides are separated by just a point in the table, meaning that the Reds can leapfrog the visitors in the table if they can claim all three points.
