On Sunday, U.S. President Joe Biden had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the recent upheaval in Russia, where mercenary forces had planned to march on Moscow.

“The two leaders discussed “the course of hostilities and the processes taking place in Russia,” said Zelenskyy in a Twitter post. This conversation comes in the wake of tensions between the Russian leadership and Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner mercenary group. ”Prigozhin had threatened a “march of justice” after accusing the Russian military of firing on his forces, but he later withdrew his forces,” said Politico news.

“I spoke with US President. A positive and inspiring conversation. We discussed the course of hostilities and the processes taking place in Russia. The world must put pressure on Russia until international order is restored. I thanked the President for the unflagging,” said Zelensky in a tweet.

This internal conflict in Russia has drawn international attention, with Zelenskyy stating that “the world must put pressure on Russia until international order is restored.” The conversation between Biden and Zelenskyy underscores the international concern over the ongoing situation in Russia and its potential global implications.

The White House confirmed the call between the two leaders, highlighting the U.S.’s active role in monitoring the situation. “This comes after a series of events in Russia, including Putin’s order to crush the Wagner militia and the reported fleeing of Putin from Moscow,” said White House.
