Calling all Beyonce fans! The star has officially broken the internet.
The iconic pop star, 40, dropped her new track Break My Soul almost two hours before it was due to be released, and it’s already being hailed as the anthem of the summer.
The house-inspired song is the first track from the singer’s upcoming seventh album, Renaissance, and it allows fans a major spoiler look at what to expect from her forthcoming record.
The singer has reunited with producers Tricky Stewart and The-Dream for Break My Soul, who she previously worked with on Single Ladies, and her husband Jay Z is listed among the songmakers on the track though he doesn’t appear to be featured in the song.
The track heavily samples Robin S’ 1993 top five hit Show Me Love, and both of its songwriters Allen George and Fred McFarlane are credited.
At first, the song appeared to have bypassed major streaming sites such as Spotify, in favour of Tidal, which is co-owned by her husband.
Beyonce’s forthcoming album Renaissance will reportedly feature a diverse array of songs, touching on genres, including country and dance.
It goes without saying that fans were completely blown away by the release, rushing to social media to share their thoughts.
One gushed: ‘Is she telling us to quit our jobs?? Because I will, Beyoncé, I will!’
Another added: ‘Beyoncé gave us an anti-capitalist, pro-gay summer anthem with vocals, rapping, a choir call and response, and FREEDIA. We really won #BreakMySoul.’
A third simply said: ‘Thank Yaaaaa! Sooooo needed this! #Beyonce#BreakMySoul@DavidcMelton‘.
Beyonce’s forthcoming album with feature 16 tracks, and it is expected to be released in multiple parts.
The album is slated for a July 29 release, and is reportedly subtitled Act 1.
The Crazy In Love singer previously told Harper’s Bazaar for an August 2021 cover story that her upcoming album would represent a “renaissance,” prior to officially settling on that term as its title.
“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again,’ she said at the time.’I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible.’’
