I’ve tasted this year’s best supermarket Christmas food – here’s what you need to try

Supermarkets are unveiling decadent centrepieces, party food and desserts - (Alice Reynolds/The Independent)

The UK’s major supermarkets have already revealed their Christmas 2026 festive food lineups and delivery slots are opening up. From luxury party food to showstoppers for the main event, I’ve had an exclusive first taste of what will be hitting the shelves this year.

From Morrisons’s giant pigs in blankets and Tesco’s chorizo and cornichon arancini sticks, to Sainsbury’s salted caramel brownie dessert, 2026 is shaping up to be an exceptional year for festive dining. Asda shoppers can expect show-stopping seafood, while there are more than 380 new seasonal dishes at Waitrose. M&S is serving up decadent party food too, with the indulgent scallop thermidor en croutes, topped with a mini pastry lobster giving you a hint at what’s included.
