Identifying the right spot to drill a borewell on a piece of land can be quite a challenge. But, a technology start-up from Bengaluru, which participated in the University Pitchfest 2022 organised by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Mysuru recently, bagged the first prize for coming up with solutions to determine the underground water levels with a fair degree of certainty.
Team Code Eco, from CMR Institute of Technology, has solutions that helps one locate the precise spot for drilling a borewell, said a statement from TiE Mysuru.
Lok Trusha by Team Code Eco is a complete solution to determine underground water levels and other details with data analytics to help farmers and boost the agricultural economy of the country. “The robust application aims to understand the groundwater scenario in the country. It gives a broad classification of groundwater level using statistical and arithmetical solutions along with various other factors affecting underground water and provides an advanced solution to scout for water aquifers and other unknown water resources”, the statement added.
Out of the more than 100 teams from different parts of Karnataka that participated in the University Pitchfest 2022, a total of 20 teams were selected for mentoring. Five out of them made it to the finale held on March 31.
While Team Code Eco walked away with top honours, Drona Automations demonstrated how sewer pipes can be cleaned by robots, and Aeronuts impressed the jury with its DIY kits to help children learn, explore and innovate in the field of aerospace. Drona Automations and Aeronuts were both adjudged runners-up.
A statement from TiE, Mysuru, said Drona Automations was into cleaning and inspection of sewer pipes of manholes and commercial buildings using low-cost robots. “Robots can be customised to operate in sewer pipes ranging from 3 inches to 14 inches”, the statement added.
Aeronuts is an ed-tech start-up that seeks to preserve and shape the curiosity of children from an early age in the field of aeronautical and aerospace sciences with STEM-based DIY kits and interactive workshops.
While Team Code Eco received a cheque of ₹75,000, Drona Automations and Aeronuts were given a reward of ₹25,000 each.
The other two teams, which made it to the finals, included a Mysuru-based job portal for blue collar workers – JobSetu – and Bin2Bricks, a start-up idea for converting construction debris to bricks.
The statement from TiE Mysuru described JobSetu as an AI and Blockchain enterprise solution that efficiently matches blue collar workers with potential job providers in the gig market. JobSetu is an early-stage start-up co-founded by Chandrakanth and Shreyas Aradhya from JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru.
Bin2Bricks is a four-member team from MIT Mysuru working to clean the city of construction and demolition waste by recycling it to manufacture bricks.
The panel of judges included Founder and Partner of PaiPal Ventures Ajith Pai; Founder and CEO of Rangsons Aerospace, Pavan Ranga; Founder and Director of Chowki Services Pvt. Ltd. Ananth Bhat. President of TiE Mysuru Sudhanva Dhananjaya welcomed the gathering.
