Ben Shephard has revealed that his teenage son has been left 'absolutely shattered' from a bout of Covid.
During Friday's episode of Good Morning Britain, Ben and his co-host Kate Garraway were discussing the rising cases of coronavirus with Dr Amir Khan.
Father-of-two Ben was keen to talk about his own personal experience with the virus and said: "It's certainly been in our house the last couple of weeks."
He then revealed: "My Jack's just had it, he went back to school, but he's absolutely shattered as well.
"It certainly feels like there's a big surge in numbers, in cases. Lots of people I'm speaking to are suddenly coming down with Covid again," Ben added.
Dr Amir Khan explained: "We're certainly seeing a surge in cases, over the last two weeks in particular we've seen cases go up quite rapidly and we're at numbers now comparable to our April peak figures.
"And it's not just numbers of cases we're seeing, we're seeing hospital admissions increase from people with Covid and in turn, intensive care numbers increase as a result of people getting Covid," he added.
Mother-of-two Kate then commented on the fact that many people believe we have to "learn to live" with Covid.
Dr Amir replied: "There is certainly a balancing act to be had and learning to live with it does mean some of the mitigations that we've yet to implement. There hasn't been this investment in indoor ventilation that so many experts have been calling for."
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV Hub.
