Been awhile since Patrick Reed posted a number like the 66 in first round of Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club

Patrick Reed knows one round does not maketh a comeback.

The 2018 Masters champion and winner of nine PGA Tour titles has been around long enough to understand that during times of struggle, an extended stretch of good form and play is required to build confidence to return to past success.

But Reed realizes one round can be the spark to ignite such a return. And Thursday’s 4-under 66 at Colonial Country Club in the first round of the Charles Schwab Challenge could be the spark. That put the Ryder Cup hero in a tie for the early clubhouse lead alongside Webb Simpson, Harold Varner and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who bounced back from missing his first cut of the year in last week’s PGA Championship.
