Bedminster bakery to open a sister site selling deli goods

The Park Bakery in Bedminster has announced it will be opening a sister site. 'The Park Deli' will specialise in selling deli goods, and is described by the owners as a "specialised grocery shop".

Known for their sweet treats and freshly baked food the original site was taken over by the current owners in 2013, despite being a local hotspot for decades. And now they have decided to start another venture in a slightly different direction, although only "one block away" from the existing site.

The Park Deli will stock groceries, promising "high-quality foods" including fresh fruit and veg, preserves and store cupboard items, beers, wines and spirits, cured meats, cheeses and more.

The Park Deli plans to open in late March and will be located at 108 St Johns Lane in Bedminster. Although works are still in progress, those eager to keep up can follow the all-new Deli on Instagram at @theparkdeli22.

Plans have been submitted for the deli to replace a former office unit. It has applied to Bristol City Council for a licence to sell alcohol there.

It's understood the deli would replace Select Security Solutions Ltd, an alarms company which has relocated to Yate. The Park Lane Larder Ltd, which runs Park Deli, submitted an application to the council this month.

It reads: "Application for a Deli providing retail sales of food and household grocery items for consumption off premises, to include the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises."

They plan to open their doors from Wednesday to Saturday initially, with exact opening hours to be confirmed. It comes amid change in Bedminster - Argos on East Street has disappeared, as work starts on a five-storey building of 50 flats to take its place.

The plans were quietly given permission by city council planners last March, and the demolition crews that have been working on taking apart the large former Argos warehouse behind the store reached the front this month.

Bedminster is also set to get a new jazz bar and restaurant this summer. Inspired by New Orleans jazz bars and London’s Jazz Cafe, the new venue on East Street, Bedminster, will occupy a former bank that has been derelict for more than a decade.
