The Traitors will be back for a second series, with its return officially confirmed by the BBC on Monday.
Making its debut right slap bang in the middle of the BBC's World Cup coverage, little was known about The Traitors when it arrived on schedules, but it quickly developed an avid fanbase and has consistently been a top trend on Twitter as each new episode airs. Hosted by Strictly's Claudia Winkleman, it is a challenge show quite like no other, as a team of members of the public work together in a bid to accumulate a cash prize of as much as £120,000.
The big catch was that on the first episode, Claudia selected three of the contestants to be Traitors, unbeknown to their teammates, who then had the task of trying to work out who the Traitors were, while trying to stay in the game themselves to be in with a chance of getting their hands on the cash.
After the shock exit of fan favourite Amanda, The Traitors series one finale provided some gripping drama, thanks to Kieran's 'parting gift' of hinting that Wilf was a Traitor, before Wilf was exposed in the dying moments, leaving Aaron, Hannah and Meryl to win and share the money.
And now it's been confirmed that The Traitors, after the US version proved BBC iPlayer binge watch success,, will be back for another series. Excited to be back as host, Claudia said: “I can’t wait to go back to the castle to watch people play the greatest game on television. I’m knitting a high funnel sweater immediately."
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, added: “Last year’s ambitious and bingeable hit The Traitors with Claudia Winkleman is coming back with the brilliant team at Studio Lambert set to bring viewers another magnificent series full of drama and suspense.
"We can certainly expect even more deceit and psychological games for the Traitors and the Faithfuls.”
