‘Everyone in the building knows who it is’: BBC host grills Tim Davie
A former colleague of the unnamed BBC presenter at the centre of a sex scandal has said the broadcaster is “extremely angry” over allegations after he was accused of sending a teenager thousands in exchange for explicit photos.
Jon Sopel, a former BBC correspondent, told The News Agent podcast: “A number of people have been in touch with the presenter to say they feel righteous fury over the way The Sun has covered this and it is fair to say that the presenter at the heart of this is also extremely angry over a lot of The Sun coverage and is convinced they’re trying to dig and find new dirt to harm this particular person’s reputation.”
There are now four separate allegations against the household-name TV personality, including breaking lockdown rules and sending threatening messages to a person in their early twenties who he met on a dating app.
Jeremy Vine has said the presenter “needs to come forward” saying “the longer he leaves it the worse it will be for him”.
